Short story ideas?

Setting: Old world and new world in one place (always fun)
Time: doesn’t matter
Ant.: Probably religion/science embodiment
Pro.: Again, probably religion/science embodiment

Open with: The cogs of the ancient tower kept turning as the people below continued their night. They prayed and worshipped. Nothing was sacred. Nothing was pure. Nothing was Everything. Technology has its place amongst the temples stones, and religion amongst witchcraft and Physics.

No one lives. No one dies. Truly, it may be a miracle anyone is alive, considering how fearful we all are.

God of Rain #1

I hear you,
I see you,
You hear me,
You see me.

Grant your wish,
Your hearts desire,
Anything at all,
Except for fire.

I grant all,
I grant them soon,
With my best friends,
Time and moon.

But do not fret, if they are not yours,
They are mine,
And I have scours!
In every little mirror,
I’ve made, you see.

The devil in you,
Is the devil in me.

So, make your wish,
I’ll grant it quick,
I am of rain,
So let’s hope it sticks.

Whenever I’m here,
Never be sad,
I’ll grant your wish,
Even the bad.

Just now, I was sitting on my sofa and fiddling away on my guitar, when I figured out quite a lovely melody. The first thing on my mind was that I wanted to share it somehow, play it for my bandmates and friends and family. It was just like the excitement I felt as a kid, when I had drawn a…

“We do not know how we are going to die and when we are going to die,” he (Werner Herzog) replies, “but they (convicts on death row) know it exactly. They know that in eight days, at 6pm, they will be strapped down, and at 6.01 they’ll have 30 seconds for a last statement, then a lethal injection. They know every single protocol. I was fascinated, not so much how do they see death but how they see life. So when you ask me about death, yes, I accept the question, but it always bounces back to how do I see life?” —http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/2012/apr/14/werner-herzog-into-the-abyss (via becamus)

‘Philosophy… is the only power that can stir us, the only power that can shake off our deep slumber.  Devote yourself wholly to philosophy.  You are worthy of her; she is worthy of you; greet one another with a loving embrace.’
